Speaking from the U.S. Lizzy’s thoughts on the second McLaren Report published today:

“Just back from the track (Lake Placid is a sunny -9 degrees) and trying to digest the headlines from the McLaren Report part II.  ‘Grim reading’ one report says, that pretty much sums it up.
The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics were so special for me, I fulfilled my childhood dream of representing my country as an Olympian.  Bettering it by becoming Olympic Champion meant that I knew my best was good enough to win.  My heart goes out to all those athletes who competed at Sochi (and it seems other Olympic Games and Championships) who will never know what could have been.  Because of the Russian conspiracy, those athletes will never know what their real potential was.  I have to shout out to my teammates from the GB Bobsleigh Team who finished 5th in Sochi behind two Russian crews….what might have been guys.
One of the hopeful things I’ve read from the Report is the call to World Sport to join together to fight the anti-doping fight once and for all. I just hope that it will truly happen now.
We’ll wait and see what our international federation (IBSF) decide about our World Champs next year in Sochi.  I hope too that they will want to join the fight.”
